FAQ
My henna/jagua came off and I don’t see a stain. Will it appear?
Yes! Both henna and jagua have what’s called an oxidation period, where they start to appear 12-24 hours later. This is the reason why you want to avoid swimming the day you get your henna. Don’t fret!
Is Jagua the same as black henna? I’m afraid I’ll have an allergic reaction.
Absolutely not. The jagua we use comes from the Genipa Americanas fruit that grows in South America. Ours is sourced from Columbia! Jagua is like a blackberry stain on steriods. Black henna is highly illegal, and contains PPD, a chemical which is found in hair dye, and is super harmful to the skin. Unfortunately, most henna tourism places offer jagua that still contains harmful chemicals.
You should not be able to see your jagua stain immediately… if you do, (usually a purple color,) it is not natural.
You should not use jagua if you are allergic to any fruit that is in the kiwi family.
How long does it last? Can it be removed?
Think of a henna tattoo like a fake tan. It lasts for 1-2 weeks and unfortunately, the stain can only be minimized through exfoliation. Take care of your henna like you would a fake tan!
Speaking of fake tans…can I still get a henna with one?
There is no definitive answer for this… it really depends on how fresh your fake tan is. If it’s very fresh, it is recommended to use jagua over henna, as it’s more likely to appear. Henna has the same color as a fake tan, so it’s possible it might not show up. You already have a stain on your skin, and adding another stain on top of that is a hit or miss.
Keep in mind that either way if it shows up, your henna/jagua tattoo will fade with your tanner.

We did a bachelorette party in the area and had Devin come to do henna for our Arabian Nights party. She is so talented and her work is absolutely stunning! The bride and bridal party were all thrilled with the work she did and would recommend her to anyone else looking for a talented artist in the area.

I don’t have any tattoos, so henna is a fun alternative for me. When I told Devin what kind of design I liked, she designed a beautiful piece and nailed it. I highly recommend her if you’re in the area!
